TKCS Cycling Event
In a remarkable display of regional cooperation and shared vision, the governments of Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa came together to establish the Trans Kalahari Corridor Management Committee (TKCMC) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This historic initiative aimed to combat poverty and drive sustainable economic progress across the region.
In line with this ambitious agenda, SeaRail Botswana proudly sponsored the TKCS Cycling Event, a truly inspiring endeavor dedicated to promoting the Trans Kalahari Corridor and advocating for spatial development initiatives. Over the course of 13 challenging days, 30 cyclists from Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa embarked on an arduous 1900 km journey.
Their journey began in Pretoria, RSA, and concluded in Walvis Bay, Namibia, traversing through the heart of the Kalahari Desert. Along the way, these dedicated cyclists actively engaged with government officials and the public, tirelessly raising awareness about safety and security along the corridor. But their mission went beyond mere cycling. Committed to community involvement, the cyclists encouraged residents along the route to unite in welcoming and supporting their journey. This grassroots approach exemplified a spirit of cooperation and unity,demonstrating the power of collective action in driving meaningful change.
